Ok, I am charged with a Class A misdemeanor in Chicago Illinois. My ex is being a real bleep & I hired an attorney & spent over $10,000 in bail & attorney fees. I do have a felony history from 1998(non violent), but I plea bargained.
Trial is set for a few days from today & I am really worried. I am(for the 1st time) Innocent of my ex’s lies & she & her witnesses discredited at civil trial, which is going to be used in criminal.
But if, for some scary reason, my paid attorney & the honest truth fail to succeed, will they give me probation or toss me in Cook County Jail? I have 1 month county time before I made bail. I am not on any probation, not convicted of any crimes since 1998 & only been arrested 2x since then, both cases dropped or tossed out. I am more scared because I am really innocent & never seen a misdemeanor take 8 month to get to trial. Thank you all for your answers in advance
Sincerely,
Hoping the truth will set me free.
The class A carries
Class A Misdemeanor
* Up to 1 year in Jail; and/or
* Fine of up to $2,500
* Examples: Battery, DUI, Possession of Marijuana (10-30 grams), Possession of Firearms, Reckless Driving
Misdemeanor criminal charges are those that have a maximum sentence of 1 year in jail or less, usually with no mandatory minimum jail time for most charges. But you are still at significant risk for a jail sentence for many misdemeanor offenses in Illinois, particularly on a second or greater offense. Felony crimes fall into 5 categories, while misdemeanors are broken into 3 classes.
Umm just spit balling here but if you did something simple then depending on the judge he won’t send you to County. I don’t know what you did but maybe if I did I could help you a lot more.
